Notes for Authors
Notes for Authors
It is of utmost importance that the studies to be published in Orun contribute original and novel perspectives to discussions from all fields of language, provided that they are lexicographically oriented or related to lexicography, and adhere to academic principles in line with the journal’s aims and scope.
In addition to research and review articles within the aforementioned scope, the journal also welcomes book reviews and evaluations, research notes, interviews, translations, and critical editions of texts.
All submitted works are first reviewed by the editor-in-chief in terms of alignment with the journal’s scope, subject relevance, content, presentation style, and adherence to the writing guidelines.
Review Processes
The editorial evaluation of a submitted manuscript is completed within 40 days.
Orun employs a double-blind peer review system.
Manuscripts accepted for peer review are sent to two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.
If there is a discrepancy between the reviewers’ reports, the opinion of a third reviewer is sought.
The peer review process typically takes between 1 to 3 months, although this may be extended depending on the workload of the reviewers in the field.
Review reports are kept confidential. Authors do not know the identity of the reviewers, and reviewers are also unaware of the identity of the authors.
Authors are required to take into account the feedback, suggestions, and revision requests of the reviewers and the editor-in-chief. Any disagreements with the feedback must be justified by the author(s) with clear reasoning.
For further information about the principles and details of the peer review process in Orun, see the Notes for Reviewerssection.
Based on the review reports, the editor-in-chief may decide:
- to accept the manuscript,
- to request revisions according to the reviewers’ comments and re-evaluate the revised version,
- or to reject the manuscript.
The publication process of accepted manuscripts proceeds as follows:
- The decision of acceptance is communicated to the corresponding author via the ScholarOne Manuscript system.
- The revised version of the manuscript, prepared in accordance with reviewer comments, is reviewed by the editor-in-chief. Once approved, the manuscript enters the proofreading and editorial process.
- Proofreading notes are sent to the corresponding author.
- After the proofreading process is completed, the manuscript proceeds to the layout and design stage.
- Once layout is finalized, the corresponding author is asked to conduct a final review of the typeset version.
- Upon completion of these steps, the manuscript is assigned a DOI number and published as OnlineFirst.
- OnlineFirst articles are then scheduled for publication in a specific issue.
If a manuscript fails to meet the general or specific criteria during the editorial pre-evaluation, the corresponding author will be informed that the submission will not proceed to the peer review stage, along with the reason for the decision.
